Goa also has some wonderful wildlife sanctuaries. Western Ghat mountain range has dense vegetation and a pretty decent amount of rainfall through the year. The place is a haven for hundreds of species of migratory birds. There are also a number of wild animals that have made these regions their home. The coastal are has a tropical backdrop where essential ingredients for Indian curry can be found.

The lateritic loamy soil of Goa, the humid conditions and ample rain has resulted in the growth of forests. These woodland were converted into sanctuaries and wildlife parks. There are more than 1512 species of plants, 275 species of birds and 48 species of animals. There are also 60 species of reptiles. No wonder with such huge resource at disposal, wildlife tourism will occupy an important place in tourism of the country.
